Walter Bernardini grew up in Glasgow. He started work there at the age of 15 and made a name for himself in advertising, winning many awards. He moved to Dublin during the 1960s, forming graphic design consultancy BB&G as its chief designer and illustrator.
The agency flourished for 30 years, and Walter’s career in advertising ran in parallel with his development as an artist. At work he came up with images and branding solutions for a vast range of clients including Volkswagen and the K Club; outside work he painted landscapes and townscapes.
On retiring he focused on art. His work has been shown at Dublin’s Royal Hibernian Academy and is held in private and public collections.
