Veronica Wallis takes relationships with family and friends as the basis for her subject matter. By melding currently fashionable images (of shoes and handbags, for example) with images from art history, she ‘has fun with the sublime and the ridiculous’ while enjoying the richness of oil colour on paper and free, expressive marks.
After a few years spent teaching children with learning difficulties in London, Veronica studied art and then printmaking at the University of Ulster. She holds several awards including two from the Royal Ulster Academy. She has exhibited internationally, and her work is held in public collections across Ireland.
